Royal Marine Fleet Protection, Painted

Traditionally Royal Marine detachments on board ships had two primary tasks in combat. To protect the ship from attack, and to capture enemy ships by boarding. Both these roles are still as relevant today, and Royal Marines regularly drop onto ships in various 'hot-spots' around the world to police for illegal weapons shipments, the trade in human beings and drug trafficking.
In this figurine, from pictures supplied by the front line Royal Marine units, we depict a modern day Royal Marine abseiling down from a helicopter onto the deck of a ship. His Heckler & Koch MP5 assault rifle is slung across his back to enable the Marine to quickly get onto the ship unhindered. Note the body armour and the drawn service issue 9mm Browning pistol for self defence.
